More Than Just A Walk

Blair Dogs provides Gold Standard dog walking and exercising services in Little Easton and surrounding areas of North Essex. It's run by me, Blair Meyler.

Daily walks are undoubtedly beneficial, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to meeting your dog’s needs. Blair Dogs specialises in hikes and runs either on or off lead, in a safe and fun environment.  Every walk provides plenty of free running, opportunities for socialisation, play and activities appropriate to age and breed.

Blair Dogs is committed to providing an exceptional service that not only keeps your pet in tip top physical condition, but also resolves any potential behavioural issues such as excessive barking, restlessness, separation anxiety, or chewing.

I am happy to work closely with you to ensure that your dogs needs are met and to discuss the well being of your dog.

Our Difference

Blair Dogs does things a bit differently.  Here's what sets us apart:

Gold standard exercise: hikes, runs and swims across varying terrain. I will collect your dog from your home and provide a minimum of 1 hours walking with plenty of free running if appropriate or on-lead-running on request.

Tailored groups:  I carefully select the dogs I walk together to ensure harmony within the group and ensure maximum play and socialisation. I choose routes to offer a stimulating environment including riverside walks and swims, sheltered woodlands and open fields.  Safety is always the priority when routes are chosen.

Experienced and professional:  Prior to setting up Blair Dogs, Blair was full-time freelance dog walker and has over 6000 miles of professional dog walking under her belt.

Unique dog running: Blair Dogs offers this unique service. If your dog is energetic but not safe off lead, I will run with your dog on lead so they can keep up with the group and enjoy the pack dynamic.

Unique fitness training: Ideal for dogs with extra energy to burn but are not safe off lead. I will run with your dog for up to 5 miles and then have a cool down before being dropped back home.

Safety and well-being first: Your dog's safety is our top priority. We have years of experience and are fully trained with Pro Trainings in Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ). In addition Blair has worked all over the world including as a Horseback Safari Guide in Africa where she learnt in depth animal welfare, equine behaviour and equine first aid.

Puppies (dogs are puppies up to 12-16 months) have different needs to adult dogs. I offer a special puppy service with very careful consideration to the puppy's age and developmental stage and needs.

About Me

How It Began

IMG_2368_edited_edited_edited_edited.jpg

I wasn’t always a dog walker. I was a dog owner (dog sufferer) to an active dog (Annie) with no time to exercise her. She was bouncing off the walls, destructive when left, would escape regularly, jump up when anyone came to the door, had no recall and was intent on not listening. Her saving grace was that I knew I was the problem. I had a demanding full time job and she was my last priority. Her behavioural issues were a direct result of having too little exercise and too little mental stimulation...

I knew something had to give ... she won.

I jumped ship, left the corporate world behind and started dog walking.

The improvement in Annie was evident within a few short weeks.

I'm Blair, the founder and owner of Blair Dogs. I have a deep passion for providing proper exercise to all dogs in my care to improve their health, happiness and overall behaviour.

I have a calm, friendly and confident manner (essential traits for all pack leaders!) and all dogs in my care benefit from a happy, fun and safe environment at all times. Shy and nervous dogs soon come out of their shell and alpha dogs visibly relax and just focus on having fun.

Prior to Blair Dogs I have walked around 6000 miles for other dog walking companies and I have been lucky enough to live and work all over the world in Barbados, Spain, Switzerland, France, Netherlands. I have also been involved in the horse world and worked as a Horseback Safari Guide in South Africa.

With feet now very much planted on Essex soil I bring my unique experiences from around the world to offer you the Gold Standard of dog walking.

I am DBS checked, fully insured (including additional Public Liability) and trained with Pro Trainings in Canine  First Aid Level 2 (VTQ).

6. What are the benefits of using Blair Dogs? 1. Number one is exercise! Exercise is the absolute foundation of a dog's health, happiness and good behaviour. Blair Dogs specialises in on and off lead hikes and runs in natural terrain which allows dogs to burn off energy, and safely engage in play and exercise. Providing proper exercise can eliminate or significantly reduce unwanted behaviours such as excessive barking, chewing, restlessness, separation anxiety or reactivity. 2. Socialisation! Blair Dogs provides excellent opportunities for safe, constructive socialisation and pack dynamics with other dogs. Socialisation helps dogs develop confidence, adapt to new situations and form healthy relationships with other dogs. Group walks trigger instinctive pack dynamics and foster a sense of belonging which can effectively address certain behavioural issues associated with fear and anxiety. Of course we understand some dogs just don't want to be with other dogs, and for those that prefer to keep things solo, regular exposure to other humans, diverse settings and activities enhances confidence, well being and their ability to adapt and handle change. 3. Mental stimulation! Just like humans, dogs need to engage their brains to stay happy and balanced. Mental stimulation helps prevent boredom, reduces anxiety and promotes positive behaviour. Providing the Golden Triangle of Exercise, Socialisation and Mental Stimulation can address unwanted behaviours and help your dog live a happier, healthier more well behaved life.

7. How far do you walk? I will always adjust the speed and distance according to needs of the dogs and weather conditions. Typically an hour walk will cover between 3-4 miles We will never include the time it takes to collect or drop off; it will never include washing down, drying or water change. The time you book is the time we walk (or run)!

8. Can dogs be exercised on lead. Absolutely! Blair Dogs provide a unique Run-Walk service where we safely run with your dog for around half the session in blasts (just as they would if they were off lead and left to their own devices). This unique service has proven incredibly popular and has helped resolve many unwanted behavioural issues caused by inadequate exercise such as barking, chewing, pacing and escaping. We are very experienced with high energy dogs who have little or no recall and/or have a high prey drive. At Blair Dogs we understand the need for these dogs to burn off excess energy and have the opportunity to run in a completely safe and secure manner.

9. Will my dog come back clean? Our priority is to give your dog a stimulating and fun adventure using the fantastic network of footpaths and bridleways our area has to offer so they come back happy, tired and ready for a snooze! Unfortunately, especially given the glorious British weather, this does mean they can get wet and muddy. We will always do our best to wash them down and dry them. If there is access to a hose or bucket of warm soapy water we will give a quick wash before a good towel dry at drop off.

10. What if there is an emergency? Your dogs safety and wellbeing is our number 1 priority. Blair Dogs holds a Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ) training. In an emergency requiring veterinary care we will first call you to discuss. If we cannot get hold of you and medical attention is required we will take your dog to the vet closest to our location.

11. What are your opening hours? We are open 7 days a week from 8am - 6pm BST and 8.30 - 3.30pm GMT Outside these hours please contact us for availability.

Testimonals

"I’ve known Blair for over 12 years, and I can’t speak highly enough of the care she provides for our dogs. They absolutely LOVE her! She’s incredibly attentive, loving, and treats them like her own.

Blair is prompt, flexible, friendly, and communicates beautifully. I always receive a sweet message when she collects them, often with a video or photo of them out enjoying their walk—which I love.

She has also looked after our pups for overnight stays, handling everything from pickup and walks to drop-off. It’s an amazing, stress-free service every time.

If you're looking for someone reliable, trustworthy, and truly caring to walk or look after your dogs, Blair is a 5-star choice. I strongly recommend her to anyone in the area."

Owner of a Cocker Spaniel & Cockador

"Before we found Blair our very energetic cockapoo had to be kept on lead at all times and would charge off after anything that moved. After a few months Blair had him going off lead and coming back perfectly. A day I never thought would happen. Blair has now been walking for us for over a year and has been a complete godsend. Our dog always comes home calm, happy and tired. Thank you Blair for all your patience and love for our boy!"

Owner of a 3 year old Cockapoo

“Blair walked our Rhodesian Ridgeback boy and Boxer before relocating back to the UK. They absolutely loved her! She clearly has a natural affinity with dogs and her care and love for them is second to none. We all miss her greatly!"
